Trixie ready for Tabletop by Nachtana Trixie ready for Tabletop by Nachtana
After the experience in Ponyville, Trixie begann to learn more about herself. And finaly, she became a wayfarer. She loves to appearance from nowhere with lightning and thunder. And even she knows how to use her new axe, she prefer to use magic instead. And her arsenal is remarkable
Want it need it is her newest spell and the meaning if she cast that on a foe. (replaces the hunter's mark spell)
For more offensive she changed her beloved firework-spell a bit. By concentrating in one single direction, even this spell is pretty dangerous. (replaces the stone spray attack, i made a extra template for her)

Finaly, Trixie is ready. And still, i'm not satisfied with my own paintjob. Who cares, i have anoter Ponys and a comission to do right now.

She takes the place of the Blackclad wayfarer in my army.

The unpainted version with measuring tape is here.  And yes, she's not higher than your own thumb.

Now, if only you had a mass quantity of those, and sold them on ebay... with international shipping.

If i had to do her with making molds in mind, it would not be the same figurine anymore. I did some stuff on her well knowing that this can't be done in serial production.
Still, one final goal of me is indeed putting a figurine in serial production. But so far, this project has no shape at all.

I found it after looking through your gallery, thank you for posting that, and for talking about some of what went into it in the description.

Your work is really neat. I'm amazed by how you are able to convey flowing, rigid, soft, hard, and flexible things in your sculpting.

I'm hoping to get into miniature painting myself soon. Any tips or suggestions for a newbie miniature painter?

Thank you.
If one is nearby, go on a local tabletop shop. Most sellers are deep in the hobby too and can guide you on your first steps. If you want a lot to read, look at this. [link]

What i can tell you is: don't buy too much in the beginning. I have a lot of friends drowning in material they never used. I started with a model kit, a hand full of colours and one single brush. That was enough. Get the colours you need, a primer spray a medium, a fine and a drybrush.

that site seems to have a few good tips. Though i'm painting minis for a game called super dungeon explore. Basically the minis require only a little assembly and are plastic. Though filling in gaps is a nice thing because I already have a few on the bigger models.

But yeah all I was thinking of so far is a kit of paints to start out with. I've seen... I think it's called army painters? army something... they have a good looking kit. And the only other thing I know about is washes for shading I believe?

What exactly are primer sprays, mediums, and fines for?

Oh yea, i know super dungeon explore. Still waiting for my fractions on relic knights i bake on Kickstarter. It will be come at the end of this year.
Army painter [link] is one of many at the Tabletop market. But they're good. The primers and part of my modelling tool equipment i use are from them. My usual colour palette however is from Games Workshop and Vallejo, so i can say nothing about the quality of the colours from Army painter.
Washes are exact for shading. They are extreme thin colours, floading in every cavity of the miniature.
Primer sprays are a fast way for giving your mini a first layer of color and base coat at the same time. I for myself use a white primer, others take black. It's a matter of taste and time. You can do more mistakes with a black base coat, because you don't see them. You see everithing on a white primed miniature.
Mediums make the colour more transparent but not thinner. So with medium you can partially see through the layers of colour.
I don't know fines, so i can say nothing about them. Games Workshop has some more specialized colours but honestly, most of them are a matter of mixing by yourself. -Or you can buy it.

Oh man I heard about the relic knights kickstarter. Wish I was able to join in on it because I really wanted some of the super dungeon explore minis that were promos in that.

I remember hearing that they'll be sent out in November due to them having more to give than expected. Also I heard that further ones will be sold only at cons (the SDE promo minis)

It'd be nice if i'm wrong though

I love the pose, everything about the body language says 'feast your eyes on this silly axe while I conjure magic that will amaze you!"
And I know it's silly to focus on this when the sculptwork is so amazing but I absolutely love effect the cape and hat. Brava!

Thanks. Only one thing is different form the artwork: she didnt point with a finger on her opponent. It was not possible to sculpt a finger on a metal hand. It simple didn't hold strong enough. In fact: it wasn't holding even a single bit.

Really nice and fine new work of yours. The details are nearly as fine as with Warhammer miniatures. I like the anthro style. No artist is ever satisfied with his own work...or he became extremely pavonine. Never stop enhancing your work, but the painting is well performed.

To be onest, one thing satisfied me well: In this pose it's not possible to put her in mass production. By making it yourself you can do things that could not be done with a mould.

Well, the ansver is simple;: she is no Warlock. In fact, i use her as a Blackclad Wayfarer [link] and that's the only reason for her axe. Ponys and weapons do not harmonize well. But i have to. Otherwise the indentification of the miniatures will be really difficult.

The key benfits of the decision to use her as a BLUEclad are that i can use her in nearly every battle, no matter of the Warlock.
And the abilitys of the Blackclad suits her well. She can teleport over the highest range of the whole game, is immune against dragon's breath and has some magic in store.
